More About Uusijärvi
Erik Uusijärvi, born 1991 in Stockholm, started playing cello at the age of six and studied for 12 years at the music school Lilla Akademien in Stockholm. During this time he got the opportunity to play in many of the biggest halls in Sweden as well as touring in Europe with different ensembles. In 2010 Erik started his studies at the Royal college of music in Stockholm/Edsberg where he studied cello for five years with Torleif Thedéen and chamber music with Mats Zetterqvist. For two years he also took regular master classes with Frans Helmerson in Piteå. A big source of inspiration has also been master classes with musicians like Truls Mørk, Ralph Kirshbaum, Marko Ylönen, Konstantin Bogino, Andreas Brantelid and Jakob Koranyi.
Chamber music has always had a central role in Erik’s life and for many years he played in the piano trio “Trio 91” which played concerts all over Sweden. Trio 91 took part in competitions like Trondheim chamber music competition, Joseph Haydn competition in Vienna and was in 2012 invited to the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern festival for a concert in the “Junge elite” series.
As a soloist Erik has performed works by Tchaikovsky, Haydn, Brahms and with different youth orchestras in Sweden and played the Elgar concerto with Lund city orchestra.
