More About Mateikaite
Daina Mateikaite was born in Klaipeda, Lithuania into a family of musicians and began to play violin at the age of six.
Daina has studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with Bartosz Cajler as well the Royal College of Music in London with prof. Daniel Rowland. At the moment Daina is studying her master’s degree at Edsberg Institute of Music with prof. Per Enoksson.
Daina is a Grand Prix winner of the Stockholm International Music Competition and 1st-prize winner of Postjärnepriset Competition. She has also received 2nd-prize of the National Association of Young Musicians RUM Solo Competition as well as she has also been awarded Pan Europa Prize ’’Young Musician of the Year’’.
Daina has appeared in many national and international festivals such as Summit Music Festival in New York, Aurora Chamber Music Festival in Trollhättan, Sweden , Indirizo Musicale in Italy, Frenkelio Vila Festival in Lithuania och Oslo Opera Festival.
As a soloist Daina has performed with Gävle Symphony Orchestra, Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra, Klaipeda and Siaullai Chamber Orchestras as well as Skallsjö Summer Orchestra in Lithuania, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.
