More About Wassily Quartet

The Wassily Quartet was formed in 2012 at the CNSMD in Lyon. Since its creation, it follows the courses of Agnes Sulem, first violin of the quartet Rosamonde. He performs regularly in concert where he explores with pleasure a wide repertoire. During the Chamber Music Days of the CNSMD in 2013, he played Molière in Lyon in quintet with Emmanuel Strosser. In July 2013, the Wassily Quartet participated as a “New Talent” at the Cordes en Ballade Festival, under the artistic direction of the Debussy Quartet. In October of that same year, the quartet played the first concerto of Chopin with the pianist Jean-François Heisser, at the Palais de la Mutualité in Lyon. In August 2014, the quartet was invited by the festival Le Vent sur l’Arbre, as a “Young Talent”. The quartet Wassily has the opportunity to work, as part of his training at the CNSMD in Lyon, with different personalities of the musical world, such as Marc Danel or Yovan Markovitch. Thanks to their professor Agnès Sulem, who has worked extensively with composer Henri Dutilleux, the four musicians have approached the contemporary repertoire: they studied his string quartet Thus la nuit and gave it several times in concert. They also had the opportunity to work with composers of today, through creations of Vincent Paulet and Pascale Jakubowski.
