Both a human and a musical adventure, Quartet Akilone was born in 2011 in Paris out of the meeting between four musicians whose personalities are as sensitive as determ ined. Reputed for the deep and poetic vision of the works they tackle, they stand up for the vast string quartet repertoire with musicality, cleverness and imagination. An award – winning quartet, laureate of the Premier Grand Prix of the 8th Concours international de Quatuor à Cordes from Bordeaux and of the ProQuartet prize, Akilone has been acclaimedfor their colourful, sincere and harmonious playing. Not only do they perform frequently in France at festivals such as the Orangerie de Sceaux, Les Vacances de Monsieur Haydn and the Festival des Arcs, they are also invited abroad, as they have been by the RNCM Chamber Music Festival in Manchester. The Quartet also thrives through their associations with other musicians like Vladimir Mendelssohn, Jean -François Heisser and Jérome Pernoo. Thanks to the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA), they have had the opportunity to train further with great chamber-music artists like Hatto Beyerle and Johannes Meissl, with whom they now work regularly. Furthermore, the ensemble has benefitted from priceless advice by Vladimir Mendelssohn, Jean Sulem and the Quartet Ebene over the course of the years they spent at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP) where they graduated in 2016. Quartet Akilone draws their inspiration fromthe richness of the artistic encounters they constantly seek: their wish to establish actual bridges between the arts comes to light through their participation in the creationsand performances of “Aventures surréalistes” and of “Le Violon virtuose qui avait peur du vide”.Spurred by the need to weave close connections with their audience and acutely aware of what is currently at stake in the musical world, Quartet Akilone endeavours to op izon towards a wider public ,in unusual venues, by strengthening their collaboration with the Concerts de Poche association in France and with Musethica abroad. In 2017, Quartet Akilone will perform at the Wigmore Hall, London, in January, and willhave the pleasure to play as part of an octet together with Quartet Talich in March. They will be touring in Japan, in the United Kingdom, in Italy and in Germany.Quartet Akilone benefits from the support of the Mécénat Musical Société Général
